Bright Rod Run 2009
It’s perfect weather in Bright this weekend for the Northern Suburbs Street Rod Club’s 19th annual Bright Rod Run. Let’s just hope that ‘the barriers’ put in their way this year do not see us lose this event. The cars, the huge crowds and the noise actually creates a great atmosphere despite what a few stick-in-the-muds might say. There are heaps of photos over the fold – make sure you CLICK ON EACH PHOTO TO ENLARGE. Enjoy. Oh, also make sure you see the last photo, there’s a message there for the anti-Rod lot. Cheers:

I picked this as the hottest looking car, and not just because the driver & passengers were all females.

Oh! You didn't realise it was Hot Rod weekend boys? No room on the roads for your bikes? Try the rail trail.
.
.

Getting back to the main event, it's all about the cars. I wonder if that green one is Iain's car with a new paint job?
.

The council's new road closures are not going down very well (yes, you read that right, it's Camp Street!).

.

And finally, this guy's T-shirt carries a clear message to all those stick-in-the-muds who don't like this event - here, here.

Thanks Sherro.
Hmmm, I will give $10 to the first person who can tell me what is written on that bloke’s T-shirt.

Thanks William, but Sherro beat you by 10 minutes and he’s kindly donated the prize money back to the AO maintenance account. Did you enjoy the show?
I wish that I could be have been there there Ray, looks like Petrol-head heaven !
Went today, Ray and enjoyed the main street lineup and cruise. But that main venue looks a little tight for 700+ exhibits.
Wasn’t game to call in to see ya in case ya had the big guns ready.
JR – The Show ‘n Shine is out @ the footy ground tomorrow. Entry fee $10 !!!
Iain – I thought you’d like that little green one.
Sherro responded sooner but he got it wrong.
S/he has transposed the words in the second line of the tshirt.
S/he has also added the letters ‘hone’ after the ‘ph’ and the word ‘HYPO’ within the phone number to the third line on the tshirt.
I would suggest that Sherro has just copied the info from their website and not actually transcribed the tshirt as you requested.
Although I would like it, I don’t really need the $10. Prehaps we can donate it to charity?
Okay William, it’s donated. Thanks for clearing that up.
Noisy bastards aren’t they?
Does that really bother you?
Nah
Rodders rock. It’s just the dickh3ads that hangon that cause the problems. Bring on more me them next year!
Nice piece of photo-journalism Ray! I absolutely loved hot rods as a kid and seeing all this made me feel like seeing them in person. So note in iCal for next year.
Those are wonderful. I obviously misunderstood what a hotrod was. I thought it was a little go-karty thing.
No, it’s ‘big boys’ toys, Rox.
Oh, I thought that was BFGs
What’s BFG, Rox?
Btw, you left a ‘dot’ out of your email address – that’s why it went into moderation and why you got a new avatar.
Ray, I was a real sceptic on the new barrier set up, but I have got to say that we did not get one negative from the rodders all weekend. They thought it worked well once they worked out where to go. It ment they could all keep moving in Ireland Street and Anderson Street and then give it a bit ofa rev up in the other streets. A couple commented that there was less overheating of some of these souped up motors and it was better on the clutch. It is Sunday night and I have just got home at 9.00pm and the streets are still packed with a great atmosphere around the clock tower and with the barriers gone there are dozens of cars just cruising. In previous years they had mostly all gone. It is great for local business and accommodation owners that so many have chosen to stay extra time.
“why you got a new avatar.”
Damn.
Rox, it’s because you entered your email address as : ………….@yahoocom.au instead of yahoo.com.au. WordPress recognises the email address and puts your gravatat next to it, but if it doesn’t recognise it, it assigns a bew one.
Here, I’ve changed it for you – see.
I have just been to Benalla and the highway is full of fancy cars on their way home. It’s good see the event was a roaring success – nearly as big as Euroa’s Show and Shine event over the first weekend in October. This year there were over 1,000 entries including antique prime movers, tractors and motorbikes. Here, they have made it a weekent to showcase Euroa with street stalls anf functions going all weekend.
That’s good for Euroa, Greg. Bright was full over the weekend with about 10,000 people, maybe more. I hope there were no ‘incidents’ because we don’t want to lose this event.
Thanks Ray
Ahem – sorry.
Fixed – again.
Looks like a fun weekend Ray….nice photos.
Well done Bright! (I’ll have to come up next year)
Cheers.
Thanks Craigy, it is a great spectacle despite some local detractors. We’re already full for the 2010 event, as all of our guests re-booked, but you might get in somewhere if you book soon.
Alternatively it’s even just worth coming up for the day (Sunday being the one when they have the Show ‘n Shine). Cheers.
